Meet Taylor Spivey
Taylor, a Southern California native, grew up competing internationally in surf lifesaving and later in NCAA Division I swimming at Cal Poly.
Introduced to triathlon by her parents, who were active in the sport, she gave it a try in her final year at university in 2014. In her debut season, she won a Collegiate National Championship Title and, by 2016, earned a spot on USA Triathlon’s National Team.
Taylor’s first career breakthrough came in 2017 with a podium finish at the World Triathlon Series race in Leeds. Since then, she has consistently achieved top-five performances on the global stage.
In 2024, Taylor was nominated to represent Team USA at the Paris Olympic Games, where she secured a top-10 finish in the individual race as the highest-placed American. A career highlight followed when she earned a silver medal in the Mixed Team Relay alongside three USA teammates.
When I hit a “wall” in training, it’s almost always a sign that I didn’t fuel properly. That’s why, through experience, I’ve learned to take a more proactive approach—fueling before hunger or fatigue sets in. It’s not just about getting enough from my daily meals; it’s also about always having reliable training fuel like Chargel with me. Having something easy to consume on hand makes a huge difference and helps me push through those tough moments when my body needs that extra boost.
Chargel has been an essential part of my training routine over the past few years.
Whether it’s packed in my swim bag, gym bag, cycling kit pocket, or even stashed in my car for longer runs, it’s always within reach. On those tough training days when I need an extra boost, Chargel consistently delivers. With long hours of training, having a convenient, easy-to-digest fuel isn’t just helpful - it’s critical to my performance.
There have been countless times during a swim session when I’ve reached into my backpack for a Chargel - and I’m always glad I did. It’s been a reliable source of fuel when I need that extra push to power through a tough set. I’ve learned the hard way that I need to have a Chargel with me wherever I go. When you’re training 2 to 4 times a day, fueling properly isn’t always convenient - but it’s absolutely essential. As an athlete striving to perform at my best, staying fueled is non-negotiable.
Chargel stands out as a much easier gel-type fuel to take during training - because it’s actually a gel-drink. Its more liquid consistency makes it far easier to consume, especially when training fatigue is high. Thicker gels can be hard to stomach in those moments, but Chargel goes down smoothly, making it a go-to option that simplifies fueling when I need it most.
I always make sure to pack a Chargel to take about 30–60 minutes before the start of a race. It’s the perfect way to top up on easy-to-digest carbs and ensure my energy levels are where they need to be. I’ve noticed a real difference, especially in the final push toward the finish line - and even more so during longer formats like middle-distance triathlons. That extra edge in the later stages can make all the difference.
I highly recommend Chargel to all athletes - especially triathletes - who are working on
dialing in their fueling. It’s also a game-changer for anyone who’s ever struggled to stomach fuel during intense training. Chargel is incredibly easy to take in, even during hard efforts, which is one of the main reasons I genuinely love it. And the bonus? It tastes amazing, too.
